Pumps or Globe fitting

Course Objective

The purpose of the skills program is to provide learners with the standards required to satisfy the challenges effectively in the maintenance of pumps or the fitting of different globes.

Target Audience

The range of typical learners include persons wishing to enter the market as an entrepreneur in the maintenance and/or fitting of different kinds of globes or pumps.

Learners should have acquired the numeracy and literacy competencies of NQF Level 2 in the Further Education and Training (FET) Band, prior to embarking on learning towards this skills program. Basic understanding and exposure to electrical equipment will be an advantage.

Portfolio of Evidence

Formative assessment: Evidence of performance will be collected continuously as Learners progress and will be considered in the final determination of the learners capabilities.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

– Apply health & safety to a work area

– The use of hand tools

– Pumps : Different types of pumps; mud and slurry pumps; single and multi stage; air lifts; fixing and maintaining pumps (sewerage).

– Globe Fitting : Different types of lights; installation; time switches; advertisement lights; isolation and lockouts; maintenance.
